What it looks like

Turning » Inside hook turn

How?

“The Inside hook turn uses the same principle as the Outside hook turn, but inside out. When dribbling with the ball, let the inside edge of one foot guide the ball sideways at right angles to your direction of travel. Then, as you’re doing this, turn your body so it’s following your foot and then be on your way. Your marker should be on your outside the whole time, so you’re turning away from her and shielding the ball with your body.”

Why?

As for the outside hook turn, this is used to maintain possession of the ball, keeping your body between the ball and your opponent. So if your marker approaches from the front on your left, use the inside edge of your left foot to guide the ball round and back, then you can either dribble on or pass back to a team mate.
