Writtle Minors 1 – 5 West ham The under 14s went into today’s game with an attitude not seen since before the Christmas break, looking to play the football that they are more than capable of, and fighting back from a shock early goal to win the encounter 5-1. Writtle took full advantage of the downhill sloping pitch and howling wind to make an early break which caught the hammers defence by surprise, and with some quick passing they took an early lead, West ham were fast to get back on level terms when a ball from Kacie Winsor Claydon took a deflection from a Writtle defender and found the net. With the girls under instruction to keep the ball on the ground to counter the effects of the wind they started to play some nice football and with this came two more goals before half time one a Writtle own goal and the second from the ever improving Kacie winsor claydon. With the Hammers starting the second half going downhill with the wind behind them it was always going to be a tough task for the Writtle defence to cope with the hammers attacks, and to their credit they held firm with their keeper pulling off save after save, it was a great goal from Aleah Headley that made it 4-1 in a game that saw Aleah playing to her best with some great support play from midfield, soon after young Klesha Darroux took to the field after a lay off due to injury she didn’t take long to find the net holding up the ball turning and shooting low into the Writtle net. Writtle managed a good attack in the dying seconds of the game but a fantastic save from Daniela Charles stopped the home team in their track, a good display from the west ham girls who at last look to have settled back into their normal rhythm of play.
